캄보디아 하늘에 퍼진 어린이의 목소리

2006.12.28
The day begins at 8 am, as the sound of children’s laughter mixes with the voices of professional announcers. It’s the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting, or ICDB, at Caracol Radio, Colombia’s foremost radio network. Thanks to three years of dedication and work, the day has grown into a celebration of youth and media worldwide. With support from UNICEF, Caracol Radio carefully prepares for the Day of Broadcasting. Children from public and private schools attend workshops where they discover the possibilities that radio provides. This training gives young people the tools to transmit their hopes, concerns and ideas about making child rights a reality. Working with the children, Caracol Radio develops news, commentary, sports programming and public service announcements based on the year’s ICDB theme. On the Day of Broadcasting in December, youthful creativity brings freshness to the sounds of Caracol Radio. Throughout the day, children’s voices are heard by 40 million Colombians on 170 stations -- even in the most remote parts of the country. Caracol Radio is increasingly committed to providing opportunities for children to express themselves on the air – a commitment unprecedented in Colombia’s media industry. In 2007, the network will launch a new venture -- Caracol Junior -- using radio to teach peaceful coexistence and values to children and adolescents. In the spirit of the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting, Caracol Junior will provide young Colombians with a permanent presence on their country’s airwaves – and an ongoing voice in the decisions that affect their lives.
