* After health workers’ strike, West Bank clinic faces challenges A lack of space and resources is just one of the many problems facing the Ein Sara Clinic. Located in the West Bank town of Hebron, it serves the majority of the population, reaching about 150,000 Palestinians. Access here is easier than at other clinics, but a recent 3 month strike by unpaid health workers exacerbated an already difficult humanitarian situation. During the strike, Ein Sara was opened once every two weeks to provide much-needed immunization. Mothers had to wait for hours with their children to receive care. SOT: Hanadi Alhalman, mother from Hebron City: "The strike affected me, because every time I came to the clinic, I had to leave my other children at home. While at the clinic, I did nothing but wait for long hours." SOT: Em Fadi Alfakhoury, mother from Hebron City she said: "I hope that we'll never have another strike, and I hope to have a national unity government, because we are tired and we need a break." UNICEF is providing nearly 3 million dollars in medical supplies for over 400 health clinics and 17 hospitals across the occupied Palestinian territory. SOT: Wafa Obeidat, UNICEF- Hebron Zonal Officer. “Unicef was able to secure all vaccine and vaccine suppliers that are needed for all children both refugee and non-refugee children all over the West Bank and Gaza Strip.” The rising birth-rate is adding pressure on an already fragile health care system.
